I am the photographer for the people who don't take themselves too seriously; the people that will dance in the rain, wander barefoot, and want the unposed, goofy moments captured too.

This Valentines Day, I knew I wanted to create an empowering boudoir experience for my clients. I’m super excited to share that I booked The Co. Chilliwack for January 29th, 2023 to host some boho-inspired boudoir minis for my clients! The Co. is located on Mill St in Chilliwack, a couple doors down from the delicious Harvest Store + Cafe.

For information on my Boudoir Sessions, fill out my contact form!

As someone who’s booked boudoir photos myself, I found these tips really helped when having my own photos taken. If I missed something, make sure you leave a comment!

Before You Book:

  1. Research Your Photographer

Something that sometimes gets overlooked when considering booking a boudoir session is making sure to research your photographer. Boudoir photography can be incredibly intimate for some people. If it’s your first time working with this photographer, I’d recommend reaching out to other models that the photographer has worked with, and ensuring that they had a positive, safe, experience. You can also check out reviews and review their past work to make sure you like their style.

Prior to your session:

  1. Find Inspiration

Going to Pinterest for inspiration for your boudoir session is always a great idea. There are plenty of lingerie flat lays, and photos to help you find ideas for wardrobe + aesthetic. Follow my Pinterest boards or send me your own so we can create something unique!

  2. Try on your wardrobe options

Look in the mirror, sit, stand, and pose in different directions to make sure you feel comfortable in your outfit. There’s nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable in your clothes, or wearing something that you can barely move in while you’re trying to pose!

  3. Bring a Friend

If you feel like you’d be more comfortable having a friend or partner with you during your session, ask your photographer if you can bring them to your session. Personally, I don’t mind having an extra person there to hype you up! You can even book a session with a friend so that you can take turns hyping each other up!

  4. If You’re Waxing

Careful if you’re getting waxed or doing hair removal right before your session! Waxing can leave red bumps and irritate the skin, so I recommend giving your skin a few days to rest after a wax so that inflammation is down for your photos.

  5. Clean Your Nails

Make sure your fingernails and toenails are clean for your session! You’ll most likely be barefoot so having freshly painted or clean, manicured nails looks better than chipped nails and dirty feet.

  6. Skip The Spray Tan

Spray tans don’t tend to photograph well and can make your skin appear orange. Your natural skin color is perfect!

The Day Of:

  1. Drink Water & Eat

Being well hydrated helps to flush out toxins, make your skin glow, and reduce bloating. Make sure you also eat something! So many people skip out on meals because they’re worried about looking bloated for their boudoir photos but it’s actually a better idea to eat something prior, as you could become lightheaded during your session. We want you to feel your best!

  2. Wear Loose Clothes

Make sure you arrive to your session in loose fitting clothes that will not create lines and imprints on your skin. Things like hair ties, tight socks, or leggings can be restrictive and create imprints that will appear in your photos.

  3. Bring
  • Water, Light Snacks
  • Lotion to moisturize
  • 2-3 Outfit Options
  • Accessories
  • Towel (helpful if working outside)
  • Slides/Flip flops (helpful if working outside)

4. Be Kind to Yourself

Your boudoir session is all about making you feel empowered! Today, try to go the extra mile to fill your day with things that bring you joy. 🙂
