I am the photographer for the people who don't take themselves too seriously; the people that will dance in the rain, wander barefoot, and want the unposed, goofy moments captured too.

As an empowerment photographer, I’ve helped so many amazing clients across the Fraser Valley feel their most confident in front of the camera. And trust me, a little prep goes a long way in making you feel like an absolute goddess!

This guide has everything you need to know, from what to bring to your session to how to prep in the days leading up. Whether we’re shooting in a cozy, intimate studio setting or getting adventurous in nature with an outdoor boudoir session, I’ve got you covered!

Before You Book:

  • Research Your Photographer

Something that sometimes gets overlooked when considering booking a boudoir session is making sure to research your photographer. Boudoir photography can be incredibly intimate for some people. If it’s your first time working with this photographer, I’d recommend reaching out to other models that the photographer has worked with, and ensuring that they had a positive, safe, experience. You can also check out reviews and review their past work to make sure you like their style.

  • Find Inspiration

Going to Pinterest for inspiration for your boudoir session is always a great idea. There are plenty of lingerie flat lays, and photos to help you find ideas for wardrobe + aesthetic. Follow my Pinterest boards or send me your own so we can create something unique!

  • Consider if you want to bring a support person!

If you feel like you’d be more comfortable having a friend or partner with you during your session, ask your photographer if you can bring them to your session. Personally, I don’t mind having an extra person there to hype you up! You can even book a session with a friend so that you can take turns hyping each other up!

What to Bring to Your Boudoir Session

1. Outfits That Make You Feel Amazing

Your wardrobe is your secret weapon for stunning boudoir photos. Whether we’re in the studio with moody lighting or out in the wilds of Chilliwack, the right outfit can elevate your confidence and add an artistic element to your photos. Here are some faves:

Try on your wardrobe options

Look in the mirror, sit, stand, and pose in different directions to make sure you feel comfortable in your outfit. There’s nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable in your clothes, or wearing something that you can barely move in while you’re trying to pose.

  • Lingerie Sets – Classic, sexy, and always a winner.
  • Bodysuits – Hug your curves in all the right places.
  • Oversized Sweaters or Button-Down Shirts – Cozy, flirty, and effortlessly sensual.
  • Robes & Kimonos – Perfect for layering and adding a touch of elegance.
  • High-Waisted Panties & Bralettes – Retro vibes that are both comfy and stylish.
  • Something Personal – A partner’s shirt, a bridal veil, or even a cozy blanket for an outdoor session!
  • Fabrics/sheets – Okay technically not an outfit, but they can be draped over the body in a beautiful renaissance style that is so gorg.

Also, consider thrifting or checking out vintage stores for boudoir pieces! You may save a little money and find something super unique to add to your session.

2. Accessories to Level Up Your Look

  • Jewelry – Sparkle, gold, chains – these accessories can elevate your outfit
  • Shoes or No Shoes? – Heels add a sultry edge, but barefoot can be just as stunning—especially in a nature setting!
  • Stockings or Thigh-Highs – A little peek of lace is always a good idea.
  • Garters & Corsets – For those vintage, pin-up vibes.
    Here’s some pins for inspo!

3. Beauty & Grooming

  • Lipstick & Makeup Touch-Ups – Even if you’re getting pro makeup, having your fave lip color handy is a good call for touch ups.
  • Hairbrush & Styling Products – Tame the mane or let it run wild!
  • Lotion & Body Oil – Hydrated skin = radiant glow.
  • Perfume – Smelling great boosts confidence but if you also have a beautiful perfume bottle it could be a pretty prop for your photos and add a personal touch.
  • Towel/flip flops for photos in the forest or outside it can be helpful to have a towel and flip flops to stand on while you change and to wipe your feet off.

4. Water!

  • Bring your emotional support water bottle or stop and pick up your fav drink on the way to the session for extra self care points. 😉

How to Prepare in the Days Leading Up to Your Boudoir Session

3-5 Days Before Your Session

  • Hydrate Like a Boss – Your skin will thank you.
  • Moisturize Daily – Because soft, glowing skin is always in.
  • Try on Your Outfits – Make sure everything fits and makes you feel 🔥.
  • Skip the New Skincare Experiments – No one wants surprise redness on shoot day.
  • Wax or Shave (If That’s Your Thing) – Give yourself a couple of days for any irritation to settle.
  • Book Your Beauty Appointments – Fresh nails and hair? Yes, please!

1-2 Days Before Your Session

  • Get Those Zzz’s – Beauty sleep is real.
  • Pack Your Bag – Outfits, accessories, and touch-up essentials.
  • Avoid Salty Snacks & Booze – Keep the bloat away.
  • Stretch & Breathe – Posing is low-key a workout! I highly recommend doing a few back and hip stretches. Consider checking out the queen “Yoga with Adriene” on Youtube and treating your body to some gentle movement before your photo session.

Day of Your Boudoir Session

  • Eat Something Light – No hangry vibes allowed.
  • Wear Loose Clothing – Things like hair ties, tight socks, or leggings can be restrictive and create imprints that will appear in your photos.
  • Arrive Fresh-Faced & Ready – If you’re getting pro hair and makeup, come with clean skin and dry hair.
  • Relax & Have Fun! – This is all about YOU feeling amazing.

Studio vs. Outdoor Boudoir: Which One’s for You?

  • Studio Boudoir – Think sultry lighting, and a controlled environment where we can play with shadows and textures. Perfect for a more intimate, classic boudoir feel!

  • Outdoor Boudoir – Love the idea of golden sunlight on your skin, dramatic landscapes, and a little adventure? An outdoor session in the Fraser Valley might be your dream vibe! Forests, rivers, mountain views—Mother Nature makes a stunning backdrop for your beauty.

No matter where we shoot—cozy indoors or breathtaking outdoors—this session is all about celebrating YOU. As a Chilliwack boudoir photographer, my goal is to help you feel empowered, gorgeous, and totally yourself.
